OI Change guide
العربيةHow the OI Change page finds contracts whose published open interest jumped quietly, and how to read the table.
Every option contract has open interest that is published at the end of a session. The OI Change page compares a session's open interest against the previous session's and keeps only the contracts whose open interest rose sharply while the session traded little. That mix is quiet positioning: a large open-interest build with no matching trading volume.
What the page shows
The page shows one session at a time, anchored to the newest session that has published open interest. The Period buttons above the table change how many sessions the table reads back from that anchor: Today, 3 Days, 10 Days, 30 Days, or All. The default is 10 Days.
Opening the page requires an Ultimate subscription; the product page shows the teaser otherwise.
When a contract is published
A row appears only when all of these hold for the session:
- Large position — open interest is at least 5,000 contracts.
- Near expiry — 90 days or fewer to expiration.
- At least doubled — open interest is at least twice the previous session's open interest.
- Far more than the session volume — open interest is at least three times the session's traded volume.
- Large in dollars — open interest is worth at least $100,000 at the contract's price.
The page keeps increases only. A contract whose open interest fell, or whose build did not double and outweigh the session volume, is not shown. A quiet build can therefore stay out of sight until it is large enough.
Read the columns
- Session OI is the session's published open interest.
- Prev OI is the previous session's open interest.
- Change and Change % compare today with the previous session.
- OI $ is the dollar value of the open interest (open interest × 100 × the contract's price).
- Session Vol is the volume traded in the change session, and Next Vol is the running volume of the following session when it is available.
- DTE is the days from the anchor session to expiration; it can be negative for an expired contract.
- Chart opens the contract chart for that row.
Filter, group, and sort
The Filters panel narrows the table by ticker, date, price, days to expiry, contract type (call or put), open-interest range, and volume range, with a Hide Expired toggle beside the Group by control. The header star switches the table to your options watchlist only. Group by date, by symbol, or flat, and sort by any column header. Sorting by OI $ uses the computed dollar value.
Watchlist and export
The star at the start of a row saves that contract to your options watchlist. The summary above the table shows the number of changed contracts, the summed OI $, and the number of symbols. The export downloads the filtered rows as CSV, capped at 10,000 rows.
What to check before acting
Open interest is published by the data provider, which assigns a contract's open interest to the correct strike and expiry series. The page compares sessions; it is not an intraday signal. Before acting, check the contract's expiry and liquidity, and remember that the gate describes positioning, not a direction or a promised move.
